Meet The Team
Martin has been in the flooring industry for the last 20 years and has worked on an extensive range of domestic and commercial carpet, timber and vinyl installations.
In 2017, Gabriella took the plunge after years of listening to Marty talk about every aspect of his job, and began to learn all she could about the various types of flooring available in Australia.
It was here, amongst raising children and running a household that East Coast Carpets was born.
We are a family owned and operated business based in Ringwood North, Victoria, proudly servicing Melbourne and the Yarra Valley. In our commitment to supporting local businesses, we only sell Australian made carpets- and the best part is, they are manufactured in Melbourne (and Geelong) as well!

GABRIELLA BYRNE
Hi, I’m Gabriella!
Growing up, I loved maths and power tools. I studied manufacturing and robotics with a dream to design prosthetics.
So, how does a tech geek come to be running a carpet company?
Well, when I met Marty (the carpet layer), I saw a compassionate guy with great values, a strong work ethic! We could both see what wasn’t working in the carpet world. So we decided to combine our superpowers, team up to make a difference … and then we got married.
All my life I’ve sought out ways to help those around me. I’m able to do that in my work every day. I get so much satisfaction from being able to use my “maths brain” to reduce joins, extend the life of carpets, and provide a cost-effective beautiful solution for customers.
As the mum of three boys, I understand how powerful the memories of a home can be. The thought of changing a room can seem like saying goodbye to your precious past. That’s why I take the time to hear your stories.
Martin and I love working together. We have designed a business that enables us to enjoy our family and provide happiness for our customers – not just now, but for years to come. That’s what old fashioned service means to us.
MARTIN BYRNE
I was born into the carpet business.
Gaby’s right about my work ethic … it comes from having expert mentors who instilled in me the craft, the attitude, and the respect to be able to do an excellent job quickly, while keeping it safe and tidy, and going above and beyond.
My mantra is prep well, arrive early, do work that makes me proud.
The difference is in the details.
Our customers come to us because they appreciate our unique approach, so it’s always a good vibe on a laying day. The physical aspect of the work suits me too … It (and golf) keeps me fit – I need it with three boys in the house!
We like to make sure that we make a difference beyond the project. We believe in limiting waste and giving back. It feels good to upcycle offcuts to create mats for animal rescues and the greater community.
Once you call Gaby, I’m sure you’ll love her almost as much as I do! I can’t wait to give your carpets some TLC!
