Underlay

Underlay is a cost effective way to give a budget carpet a luxury feel! By using a good quality underlay, you are adding an additional barrier between your subfloor and your feet, as well as adding another layer of thermal insulation and noise reduction to your home.

We only use Airstep 100% recycled foam underlay, as it doesn’t disintegrate the way rubber underlays do over time (if you currently have rubber underlay in your home, watch Martin put his whole body into it when he comes to scrape it off your subfloor!), but it is also better for the environment.

For all forever homes, we recommend StepEco as a starting point as this underlay (or thicker) will help prolong the life of your carpet and reduce the likelihood of stretching and bubbling – and it feels good under your feet!
